Snow Shoe Trail members could not ask for a better day for their mid summer "membership" appreciation day and trail ride. About 300 riders/new members attended to take part in supporting this great trail system.
The chicken was served beginning at noon with riders coming and going all day.

Hats off to Best Line Polaris (of state college) for co-sponsoring the event. Bestline showed up with a truck load of new machines to show off, along with many accessories near the food tent. PaAtving would like to thank them for all their support.

The Trails were in great condition this day, providing a full day of adventure with little to no crowding at all. Riders were spaced out over the full length of the course, taking advantage of play areas to leisurely cruses down the trail. The tunnels were wetter than normal due to the extremely wet summer so far, and provided cool res-bide from the day’s heat. Upon approaching the tunnels, the air-cools down to a brisk 50 degrees, while maintaining this temperature all the way through them.

Bringing an "almost" eerie feel in the darkness half way through, while the light from the end of the tunnel guides your exit.

Being the great trail host/guide he is, Larry Mayes provided a guided tour to a new batch of supporting members. Explaining the local history of what they had past through, and explaining where they were going next, all the while providing sodas to any who cared to indulge while on the break.

One of the last stops of the day landed our crew at the viaduct to take in some scenery and to explore the trails future. Some members preferred to cross the river than to take the bridge. Note the color of the water "rust color" this river is devoid of life from acid mine runoff from the days of mining past. The acid is so strong at points that it has under mined the footing of the rt80 highway bridge, which is now undergoing emergency repairs. Expect 1 hour delays (on RT 80) going east on Sundays for at least the next year.
