It was a sunny, clear day in the small town of Ridgeway, PA, nestled in the Allegheny Mountains, where an unusual, but exciting, event took place. A.T.V. riders from around the region partnered up with 117 Chainsaw Carvers from 6 countries around the world to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the local Y.M.C.A.
The annual event called "The Chainsaw Rendezvous" is the largest of it's kind in the world.

Early morning the town was filled with community organizations, participants, and thousands of spectators. In addition, there were vendors, food booths, craft sales, and A.T.V. representatives that provided a grand and welcome atmosphere and a good time for everyone.
This year's event included an A.T.V. Dice Run. As seen in some of the photos, even the mud of the Allegheny Mountains couldn't deter most of the riders from doing some climbing and exploring on their machines. Most took some mud home as souvenirs. The local Fire Department set up a concession stand in the middle of the trail ride so everyone could fill their stomachs with fresh hamburgers, hotdogs, coffee, hot chocolate, soda, etc. without having to leave the trail.

The Allegheny Gateway Recreational Project sponsored the A.T.V. Dice Run for the 2002 Chainsaw Rendezvous. This is a local park that is located on the doorstep of the Allegheny National Forest, which is 6 miles from the "Timberline Trail" and close to the "Marienville Trail".
This park already consists of ball fields, volley ball courts, pavilions, handicap accessible restrooms, golfing, fishing, camping, hunting, canoeing, cross-country skiing, and an A.T.V. trail and playground that is currently being developed by the community.
All that participated and/or attended the event had a good time. The plans for next year's "Annual Chainsaw Rendezvous & A.T.V. Dice Run promises to have even more carvers, food, entertainment and a bigger, better trail system.

Special thanks to Tom Fitch for turning in the story and pictures.
